What is the proper way to use a makeup brush? Is powder makeup less noticable than liquid makeup?

Firstly buy a separate brush than the one which came with the makeup as they rarely do the job. I prefer wearing liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer but i think powder makeup is a bit less noticeable depending on the brand.
