What is too young to start wearing makeup (powder foundation, to be exact)?

My little sister wants to start using makeup. She is 14 years old. I myself (almost 21 years old) doesn't bother to wear much makeup, just the occasional concealer and lip gloss. Do you think it's appropriate for her to be wearing foundation? She already is beginning to wear lip gloss and concealer. What is too young to start wearing makeup (powder foundation, to be exact)?
It's all a matter of personal opinion but I think if she wants to play around with makeup then that's fine. I wouldn't encourage foundation though...it can get pretty yucky and make you look orange!

But, if you want to take her shopping for some nice eye makeup to wear in moderation then I think that's okay. Just make sure she doesn't do the whole thick black eyeliner thing. What is too young to start wearing makeup (powder foundation, to be exact)?
I say let her. the only way you can learn to do makeup so it looks good is to try different things. I started wearing makeup in 8th grade...and it wasn't pretty, but people don't care as much at that age because everyone is learning, but if she doesn't start wearing make up until she's like 18, almost everyone knows how to apply it so it doesn't look horrible, so it's harder to start wearing make up when your older.
Well, 14 isn't all that young, but foundation ... I think it usually makes teenage skin break out, unless it's mineral based. I wouldn't exactly encourage her to wear makeup, but tell her not to wear foundation on a daily basis, since foundation does sometimes tend to age your skin faster than you'd expect.

If she has really bad eye circles, concealer would be a must, and lip gloss is universal for teenagers.
yea it is definately the right age to start. i personally started wearing make up when i was 10 but it was only a little lip gloss and blush but i have grown up in beverly hills and every one starts everything early there. i am now almost 15 and i wear:

foundation

bronzer

blush

eyeshadow

eyeliner

mascara

so i basically wear everything but where i live it is no big deal because everyone wear all of that stuff.
I agree, 14 is not too young to start experimenting with makeup, especially if her friends are wearing it.

As long as you try and show her how to use it, or let her have a look at some videos on the internet, she should be fine!

And remember that she needs to remove any excess makeup at the end of the day. If she looks after her skin, she will need to wear less makeup.
12 and 13 are a little too young, especially 12 but older than that I think it's fine when you are going into high school and growing up and deciding who and what you want to be. She just wants to make a statement, so let her have her say.
Of course! She is 14 not 4! As long as she doesn't walk around with dark vampy makeup she is fine. My sister is 13 and she normally doesn't wear makeup unless she get a blemish or zit. I've been wearing some makeup since 6th grade so around 12ish or 13. Just make sure she knows how to do it. :)
to be honest if she doesn't need to wear foundation ie. if she doesn't have any spots or blemishes then i don't think she should start cause it would be just a waste of money for her but at the end of the day if it makes her feel better then let her go for it!
i think that make up is a way to get attention at that age. I also do not think it is that important to wear unless going out and certainly at 13 she is not going out. i know its annoying for little ones to hear but they should be children when they are and not rush to grow up so fast.
i started wearing makeup when i was 13, but just lipgloss and mascara. when i was about 14 i went through a faze where i piled on the foundation and blusher, but i just grew out of that over time.
i think u can let her but make sure she doesnt over load on the makeup. also watch what kind of makeup she uses. if she uses cheap makeup it will ruin her skin for the rest of her life. maybe a little mineral makup but not alot
14 is around the normal age that girls like to experiement with make-up. the trick is to show her how to wear it and still look natural and not like a clown.
I think 16 is the youngest you should be before you wear makeup, but people are saying kids these days are doing things younger and younger. Now they are dating at age 10 and sexual actions at 12,smoking at 13.
its fine, she wants to be different and let her.

and make sure that she doesn't go too overboard or she will look hooker-ish, like some girls at my school.
psh. yeah, i'm 14 and i wear liquid foundation and concealer all the time
14 is definately not too young

Id say 11 or 12

but at 13 it's a good age
i think she should wear powder foundation only if her skin is nasty.
it's ok. 14 is old enough to wear makeup.
im 13 and i wear makeup
