What are all the makeup terms: foundation, top/base, moisturizers, polishes, powder, bronzer, used for?

Additional terms: matte, internsive, original glo for bases.

Please be open to tell me about other terms also.

I'm new to makeup and I'm just trying to hide my bags which make me look much more older than 14.

I just saw all these terms and I was wondering what these products were used for. What are all the makeup terms: foundation, top/base, moisturizers, polishes, powder, bronzer, used for?
base/primer- a liquid used to prime your skin and pores for smoother application of foundation..

Foundation - a pigmented liquid or powder used for all over coverage, to smooth skin tone..

Powder - a matte finish usually for liquid foundations to smooth and set makeup..

Matte - A finish which does not reflect light..

Shimmery- A finish which DOES reflect light..

Moisturizer - a lotion or cream designed to add moisture, cell renewl, etc to the face..to be used after cleansing and before makeup application..

Toner - an astringent used to smooth and deep clean pores after regular cleansing..

Blush - usually a peachy, or pinkish highlighter for cheek bones where you would naturally have ';rosey'; cheeks..

Bronzer - A ';sun-kissed'; tanning highlighter used to accentuate the face and add healthy summer glow..

Concealer - A denser liquid or cream, pigmented to hide stronger discolorations such as dark circles and acne..

Intensive ( I think you meant) - Usually a word associated with skin treatments, for acne, or anti-aging products, dry skin etc..almost always associated with a ';healing'; or ';repairing'; type of product..

Original glo - would be a term used to show that it would have a more shimmery finish, rather then a matte finish..

I think I covered all your terms and a couple you hadnt asked..

as for your bags, try brewing a couple of green tea bags and then putting them in the fridge..once they are rather chilly, put them on your eyes and leave them there for several minutes..should help..

another good trick is to THINLY slice a few pieces off a potatoe, stick them in the freezer for about 10 minutes so they get super cold and then apply in the same way as the tea bags..I actually prefer the potatoe method because it reduces any bags and helps reduce dark circles due to the starch..

=]What are all the makeup terms: foundation, top/base, moisturizers, polishes, powder, bronzer, used for?
Foundation: Skin colored liquid applied to face to even skin tone.

Base: Moisturizer or foundation primer used underneath foundation to even skin layer so foundation sits better.

Moisturizer: Face specialized lotion to moisturize skin before applying make-up.

Powder: Skin colored powder used after foundation to ';set'; foundation - creates a fake look, I don't use it.

Bronzer: Colored liquid or powder used to create fake tan (can make you look orange if not done properly - I don't use)

Matte: Opposite of glossy/shiny, matte is dull, flat

Toner: Liquid applied to face after washing but before moisturizer to balance skins PH.

Facial make-up: First, wash face thoroughly, don't scrub hard. Apply toner with cotton pad, apply moisturizer all over face/neck/upper chest with cotton pad. Wait 5 minutes, apply primer with cotton pad. Wait 10 minutes. Apply concealer with finger tips to help melt concealer as you apply (body heat helps melt it and it goes on more natural). Apply foundation with sponge, evenly and thinly to even skin tone. Apply blush with blush brush or if using cream blush, apply with sponge.

Eyes can be done a million different ways so you'll have to try and figure it out - but eye shadow brushes as opposed to wands are much better, but tend to get make up on sides of eyes and upper cheeks - be sure to tap off extra make-up to avoid this.
matte~ solid and not as pigmented

pigmented~ very powdery andd kinda glimmery sometimes

foundation~ makes your skin look better. sort of a base

concealer~ covers up things

base (eye base)~ a little shadowy type thing that prepares your eyelids for eyeshadow and other eye makeup.

mineral makeup~ more natural that other powders and makeup. doesnt clog pores and doesnt cause you to age earlier.

for those bags i would use some nice concealer! (: good luck . hope i helped. tell me if you need anymore and ill edit my answer! =)
